A dedicated and revised service via the Suez Canal to Australia and New Zealand will be introduced in January 2003 deploying 14 vessels which will provide excellent transit times and improved schedule integrity, plus also encompass excellent direct links for the Mediterranean and New Zealand. Southbound, the service rotation will be : Antwerp, Felixstowe, Rouen, Le Havre, Valencia, La Spezia, Marseille, Pointe des Galets, Port Louis, Fremantle, Melbourne, Sydney, Tauranga, One New Zealand South Island East Coast Port. This revised service via Suez will result in improved schedule integrity, plus also provide direct access from key Mediterranean ports and New Zealand, which had previously operated on a transhipment basis. Northbound, the rotation will be : Tauranga, New Zealand South Island East Coast Port, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Fremantle, Singapore, Jeddah, La Spezia, Antwerp. This will provide excellent additional export opportunities to Singapore, Jeddah and Mediterranean Ports via the Suez Canal and direct access for New Zealand exporters, previously served with transhipment services. This service will be upgraded to offer a fixed weekly opportunity from the current 8/9 day frequency. Transits to Pointe des Galets and Port Louis will be improved and dedicated MSC Feeder services will provide access to Dunkirk, Bordeaux/Le Verdon, Montoir, and Bilbao via MSC’s dedicated terminal facility at Le Havre. The Port rotation will be: Antwerp, Felixstowe, Rouen, Le Havre, Valencia, La Spezia, Marseille, Pointe des Galets, Port Louis, Excellent connections will be offered to Madagascar and Mayotte using MSC’S dedicated feeder service. In order to preserve and accommodate MSC’s existing cargo interests between South Africa and Australia and continue to serve USA customers moving their cargo via South Africa, a new and dedicated service to Australia from South Africa will be introduced from January 2003. This service will operate with 4 vessels connecting the major South African Ports with Australia via Port Louis on the Eastbound leg to Australia and returning via Port Louis and Pointe des Galets on the return leg.
