| Geneva, December 6, 2002 MEDITERRANEAN SHIPPING COMPANY S.A of Geneva Switzerland is pleased to announce an enhancement and extension of their existing service to and from Canada. With effect from January 2003, MSC will also become a ship provider and an equal partner on the Canadian Express Service (Canex ). The European port rotation will be changed to Montreal, Le Havre, Rotterdam and Bremerhaven and this service will exclusively use the MSC terminal facility in Le Havre. In addition and also effective as from January 2003, MSC will take slots on the St-Lawrence Coordinated Service (SLCS) operating on the port rotation of Montreal, Thamesport, Antwerp, and Le Havre. These combined adjustments will enable MSC to provide a better and more comprehensive service between Europe and Canada. The use of MSC’s dedicated terminal facility in Le Havre will also result in improved connections for Canadian cargo destined to or emanating from the Mediterranean. Commenting on these new developments Captain Pasquale Formisano, a Director of MSC Geneva, stressed that « We have been compelled to provide greater flexibility and improved service integrity in a direct response to our customers’ requirements. We expect that these measures will enable us to expand our participation in this trade, regardless of the difficult economic conditions that exist today » . |
