Europe / Far East Imbalance Equipment Surcharge (I.E.S.)

We are facing a growing demand of 20’, 40’ and 40’HC equipment for cargo destined to Far East destinations, and in view of a severe shortage of equipment persisting in the North West Continent, carriers are engaged in extraordinary empty repositioning to satisfy the market requests. Naturally this is done at considerable expenses that need to be at least partially recovered.

Therefore MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A., is introducing an EMERGENCY “Imbalance Equipment Surcharge“ for any booking requested as from August 3rd of USD 100 / Container.

From (direct and non-direct ports of call):

Antwerp, Le Havre, Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Rotterdam, Felixstowe, Bilbao, Vigo, Gijon, Le Verdon, Montoir, Dunkirk, Brest, Rouen, Liverpool, Teesport, Bristol, Tilbury, Belfast, Cork and Grangemouth.

The above emergency surcharge will be applied over and above the existing new freight rates applicable. Therefore the general rate increase of USD 100/ 20’ and USD 200 / 40’ (for all commodities, inclusive of waste paper) applicable as from August 1st remains to be applied in full.
